Alayne Lobay-Ness - Physiotherapist

Alayne has over 20 years of experience as a physiotherapist and she has built her physiotherapy career supporting people of all ages with complex needs and conditions. Alayne’s career has spanned sports physiotherapy, orthopedics, senior’s health and oncology but her most extensive experience is in pediatrics and her passion for this also includes supporting parents to safely achieve their fitness and lifestyle goals.

In 2012, Alayne began to focus her practice on Pediatric Physiotherapy and recently added a unique (and much needed) Physiotherapy for Breastfeeding to her list of specialties.

Alayne quickly found deep fulfillment supporting infants, children, new parents, families, multi-disciplinary teams, and key support providers.

Alayne began her physiotherapy career with a focus in private practice, sports therapy, orthopedics, and occupational rehab. From 1999 to 2004, Alayne completed numerous courses in orthopedics and manual therapy, and she obtained a Certificate in Medical Acupuncture in 2003 and a Gunn IMS Certificate in 2004.

After starting her own family in 2003, Alayne transitioned to providing physiotherapy services in outpatient settings, oncology/lymphedema, hospital-based care, and home care for several years. By 2012, Alayne shifted her focus to pediatrics. Within pediatrics, Alayne has provided physiotherapy in community rehab, preschool programs, school-based programs, and private consulting in the Foothills area and in South Calgary.

Easy Access to Pediatric Physiotherapy

Wait lists and criteria for funded physiotherapy support, and limitations for school age access/intervention can impact physiotherapy service access and provision. We are very excited to enable increased access to pediatric physiotherapy in our community from an amazing, experienced physiotherapist with years of experience.

What is Physiotherapy for Breastfeeding?

Alayne also has completed training to enable provision of a unique physiotherapy service targeting breast conditions that impact feeding (e.g. blocked ducts, mastitis, breast pain and inflammation). Typically, 1 – 4 physiotherapy sessions together with suggesting self-management strategies for breast conditions can make a significant impact for breast pain, inflammation, mastitis/recurrent mastitis. Alayne can also look at latch, positioning, and comfort for breastfeeding, or refer to other providers when needed.
