Personal Training & Yoga Sessions

We are so fortunate to have Shawna Kotyk at Active Balance.  She works well with all ages and all levels and has over 30 years experience instructing fitness and 17 years of yoga teaching.  Here’s what you need to know about your session with Shawna:

Personal Training – Each session is tailored to your specific need. This may include balance, flexibility, core strength, mobility or overall body strengthening. Referrals are welcome from your practitioner and existing programs can be incorporated in these sessions.  Please arrive with clean, indoor running shoes, comfortable clothes and a water bottle. If you have your own yoga mat, please bring it along. You may park in the back and enter from the rear entrance.

Yoga One On One – This session is tailored to your individual need. It will include a variety of gentle postures to more advanced, but, of course, this is all dependent on you. For beginners through to those who need assistance in poses. Supports provided, such as a bolster or chair. This session is tailored to your individual need. Personal Training & Yoga Sessions

Truly this is an opportunity for you to receive personalized programming and personal guidance within each session.  There is no expectation of previous yoga or training required as each program will include what is needed for healthy growth for your body, internally and externally.  If you are under the care of a practitioner at ABHC or elsewhere, you are welcome to share this with Shawna so she can include any requirements into the program.  If you are working with one of the wonderful practitioners at ABHC, through the right processes, they collaborate together to support YOU!

What to expect your first visit

  • You will be asked to complete a thorough intake form prior to our initial session
  • Initial session will be 60 minutes

On your first visit whether it is yoga session or your personalized train session we will go over any health concerns and areas within your body that are sore, injured, tight or just need extra care and attention. The session will be completely comfortable for you as we create your specific program that may include current programs from a practitioner that you are working with, strength exercises, stretching/yoga, balance, mobility, breath work, pelvic floor exercises, and core strength.

  • Shawna loves a variety of ABHC patients and clients to work with.  She teaches yoga to adults with developmental disabilities, has very inflexible male yoga students, senior women who now require the supportive assistance of chairs during their practice, yoga specifically designed for endurance athletes, and yoga students who just wouldn't practice without the discipline of Shawna's firm but gentle voice.

    Shawna's personal training needs to be thought of more like "personalized" training - designed for the individual. Whether you're recovering from injury, need strength, balance, or it's an addition to your primary sport, like running or cycling, please book a Meet & Greet with her.
