The 1st Year (and a bit)
Coming March 18, 2023
Come spend the day with SIX expert health professionals who each have years of experience and are moms themselves. These ladies have all been there and know what that first year with baby feels like. This workshop includes handouts to keep, light snacks, water, coffee and tea. Moms are welcome to bring a lunch or go get lunch during the break. Registration cost is $150.00 (including gst).

Please bring babies for the first two presentations! Partners and babies are welcome to attend all presentations.
Tracy Banister, Pediatric Physiotherapist will provide a 1-hour review of the gross motor milestones in year 1 of your baby and will provide tips and tricks to help ensure your baby is meeting their milestones.
Amy Giordani, Registered Massage Therapist will provide a relaxation massage sequence for moms to use with their babies in a 1-hour Certified Baby Massage Course. A colored booklet will be provided for moms to refer back to when at home.
Alison Varga, Provisional Psychologist and Counselling Therapist presents Mental Health in Motherhood. This session will look at common struggles moms face during the first two years of motherhood and ways to combat hits to our mental health. This will be a safe opportunity to be real about our mental health while also connecting to each other.
BREAK: 12:30 – 1:30
Leona Ham, Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist will provide a 1-hour workshop that will benefit moms no matter their delivery method (c-section or vaginal). Leona will touch on common concerns she sees in her practice from postpartum moms and some take-home education and exercises for moms to integrate into their daily routines.
Janna Sitovska, Registered Acupuncturist and Chinese Medicine Doctor will present an introduction to some general recommendations in Chinese Medicine for the postpartum period and information on herbal and acupuncture treatments for common health conditions in the postpartum period including postnatal depression, urinary difficulty, breast milk not flowing, constipation and hemorrhoids after childbirth, abdominal pain and more.

Deanne Wiseman, Holistic Registered Nutritionist will present on your physiologic changes and nutrition needs in the postpartum time, and how you can prevent or repair “postnatal depletion”. Participants will receive a nutrition guide and postpartum meal plan.
Your Workshop Healthcare Practitioners:
Tracy Banister graduated from the University of Alberta with a Masters in Physical Therapy in 2015 and has been treating pediatrics since the beginning of her career. Tracy has always had a passion for working with kids as she spent several years teaching dance to children.
Leona is Okotoks most experienced Pelvic Floor Physiotherapist. She has been seeing patients with pelvic floor dysfunction since 2009. Leona combines her knowledge and experience in pelvic floor physiotherapy, orthopaedic physiotherapy and athletic therapy to provide her patients with the best possible outcomes.
Alison Varga – Provisional Psychologist and Counselling Therapist
Alison has her Masters in Counselling Psychology and is a Registered Provisional Psychologist and Canadian Certified Counsellor. As a new mum who also struggled with infertility and loss, Alison developed a passion for perinatal mental health. She continues to pursue this specialty while also advocating for mental health support for all parents.
Amy Giordani – Registered Massage Therapist
Amy has over 15 years of massage experience with a particular passion, and additional education, in infant massage. She is also certified in Yoga and Reiki. Amy works with the mind/body connection in clients of all ages.
Janna helps women of all ages address a wide spectrum of health issues. Her expertise includes addressing common women’s health complaints such as balancing hormones, fertility, postpartum, ovarian cysts, miscarriages, profuse period bleeding, no periods, and dry vagina. People of all ages can benefit from acupuncture. Chinese herbal formulas can be taken only after 6 years old.
Deanne honours the physiological changes of pregnancy and postpartum. She provides virtual nutrition counselling for women before, during, and after pregnancy to help them feel supported, energized and balanced. Her passion lies in helping women prepare for the fourth trimester and thrive with young children.
