Rachel Torn

Registered Massage Therapist

If you’re looking for a typical spa-style relaxation massage, that’s NOT what Rachel does. Rachel’s focus is on performance, recovery, and injury prevention—not on simply making you feel relaxed for an hour.

While the vibe in her treatment room is laid-back, with great music and zero spa fluff, her treatments are built around getting you real results. She takes a dynamic approach to each session, treating the tissue as it presents itself on the day of your appointment. Your body changes, so your treatment should too. Instead of sticking to a rigid plan that ignores your current needs, she tailors each session based on how you’re feeling and what your body requires at that moment. This flexible approach allows her to adapt to what’s actually happening in your muscles and joints, leading to better results.

Rachel specializes in therapeutic and sports focused massage and does not do relaxation, prenatal or non-athletic pediatric massage.

Fun Fact

Growing up, she spent over a decade riding horses and competing in 3-day eventing, dressage, and show jumping across Ontario and Alberta. Her equestrian background has given her unique insight into the demands of the sport, allowing her to specialize in working with equestrian athletes. She loves translating issues experienced in the saddle into effective solutions on and off the treatment table.

About Rachel

After her career as an equestrian athlete came to an unexpected end, Rachel Torn wasn’t sure what would come next. It wasn’t until she completed her second yoga teacher training that she developed a deep passion for anatomy, which eventually led her to a career in massage therapy. Initially uncertain about the hands-on aspect of the profession, Rachel quickly discovered the power of therapeutic touch in helping people move better and feel their best.

When she is not in the treatment room, you’ll find her at the gym, hiking when the weather’s warm, reading, cooking, or diving into her latest hyperfixation. She also loves spending time with family and friends and continuing to learn.

Education

Rachel graduated from Mount Royal University’s 2200-hour program with a focus on optimizing athletic performance, injury prevention, and recovery. Since then, she has expanded her expertise with certifications in Evidence-Informed Clinical Cupping, Advanced Kinesiology Taping, Advanced Instrument-Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, and Percussive Therapy.
